My Summer Fashion Essentials

I cannot believe that it's June. Seriously... where has this year gone? Even though these past five months at school have been great for me, I'm glad it's finally coming to an end. Summer vacation, here I come!

To celebrate the arrival of June, I've put together my four favorite fashion essentials for summer.

Summer Fashion Essentials

1. Fun, Bright T-Shirts. This twist back top from AE just screams summer to me. I'm loving the neon blue, loose fit, and fun back. T-shirts like this are definitely going to be must for me this summer.

2. Sandals. So this one is kind of obvious (who doesn't wear sandals in the summer?), but nevertheless they're a necessity. I think sandals are a great way to make a simple outfit look put together - even if it's just a plain t-shirt and jeans.

3. Colorful Nails. Summer is the perfect time to rock those neon nails! Right now I'm loving bright blue nail colors.

4. White Jeans. Basically the staple of any summer wardrobe. Believe it or not, I actually didn't own a pair of white jeans until this week! I finally got around to ordering a pair online and I can't wait for them to arrive. (So many new outfits to try out!).

... And that's all I have so far! These four items will probably make up my outfit on any given day this summer. I can't wait!

Cherry Blossom Nails // Tutorial

This week I decided to try something a little different with my nails. I started off with my favorite nude polish and added a cherry blossom/floral detail. This design is definitely a bit complicated, but it can totally be done!

Here's how I create this look:

One // Start off with a nude base color. I used Essie's Sand Tropez. I'd also like to experiment with different colors!

Two // Before moving on to the design, layer a top coat over the nude polish. This will make things much easier in the next step ;)

Three // Use a thin brush or black striper to create the branches.

This is the striper that I use from Sally's. It definitely makes painting those thin lines easier! No surprise, the key here is to have a steady hand and be patient.

This is also where that top coat comes in handy. If you mess up the branches once or twice, the black polish can easily be removed with a tiny bit of nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol, and the base color stays intact. Thank you, top coat!

Four // Use a dotting tool (or toothpick) to add the pink blossoms. I put about four or five dots on each nail.

Five // Finish with one last top coat for that beautiful shine and protection!

(Oh, and enjoy the gorgeous nail art!)

Gold Confetti Nails // Tutorial

This week's nail art was an old favorite of mine - gold confetti! I typically do gold dots on a black background, but I finally decided to try white. I 'm starting to like this style even more!

I was actually inspired by my gold and pearl bracelets, which I have been wearing religiously for the past couple weeks. It's been lovely having my nails match my jewelry all week!

To create this look:

One //  Apply a protecting base coat and paint nails white (or experiment with other colors!).

Two // Use a dotting tool and gold polish to apply dots to the nail. Start out by concentrating most of the dots at the tip of the nail and carefully add a few spread out the rest of the nail. This will create the confetti look.

Three // Finish with a shiny, fast drying top coat!

I love this design because its easy and fast to do. Not to mention, it looks adorable. Tune in next wednesday for another fun nail art tutorial!

Flip Flop Weather

Last week was absolutely wonderful - mostly because of the weather. On Wednesday we nearly hit 90 degrees, which is basically a miracle for me up in Oregon. Even with tons of final projects and exams going on in school right now, I felt pretty good throughout the whole week. The sun definitely helps to keep me going during this time of year!

I even wore flip flops for a couple days last week! Despite all of the work, it  was definitely starting to feel like summer. I got iced coffee, went for a walk, and ate lunch outside with friends.

Here's my go to outfit for a casual spring day - in flip flops!
Flip Flop Weather

I've been loving (and perhaps over-using) my pink flip flops lately! They add a great, spring-y pop to any outfit.
Anyways, I hope your last week was awesome too!

april showers

Last week we had seven glorious days of sunshine up in Oregon! Needless to say, I was totally in the spring mood. I even wore  my summer shorts and sandles for a couple days.

Even though the rain has returned I'm still loving spring style. Luckily I can dress for the weather and show off some bright, spring colors. (Hello, cute rainboots!).

April Showers

I'm loving that bold orange! Hunter Style also has an adorable spring break collection - for warmer weather, of course.
